Diammonium phosphate, DAP Diammonium phosphate (DAP) (chemical formula (NH4)2HPO4, IUPAC name diammonium hydrogen phosphate) is one of a series of water-soluble ammonium phosphate salts that can be produced when ammonia reacts with phosphoric acid.
Molecular formula: (NH4)2HPO4 Molecular weight: 131.0488 CAS No: 7783-28-0 EINECS: 231-987-8 PH: 7.8-8.2(50g/L, 25â„? Appearance: White granular crystal or powder Purity: 98%
Properties: Colorless clarity rhombic crystal or white powder and the relative density is 1.619g/cm3, melting point is 155°C (decompounds at 155 centigrade), easy to dissolve in water and not dissolve in alcohol, acetone and ammonia. The PH value of 1% water solution is 8.0. It will lose gradually ammonia to become ammonium dihydrogen phosphate in the air. React with ammonia and form triammonium phosphate.
Applications: Mainly used for the fire retardant of wood, paper and textile, and for fireproofing dope additive. It can be used for nitrogen and phosphrous supply to all kinds of plants especially in the regions with less rain. It is the base fertilizer for multi-element compound fertilizer and BB fertilizer production. DAP is used as a fertilizer. When applied as plant food, it temporarily increases the soil PH, but over a long term the treated ground becomes more acidic than before upon nitrification of the ammonium. It is inco***tible with alkaline chemicals because its ammonium ion is more likely to convert to ammonia in a high-pH environment. The average pH in solution is 7.5. The typical formulation is 18-46-0 NPK. DAP can be used as a fire retardant. It is the largest component of some popular commercial firefighting products. DAP is also used as a yeast nutrient in wine making and brewing mead; as an additive in some brands of cigarettes purportedly as a nicotine enhancer; to prevent afterglow in matches, in purifying sugar; as a Flux for soldering tin, copper, zinc and brass; and to control precipitation of alkali-soluble and acid-insoluble colloidal dyes on wo |
